Urban Farming
At ZeroToLandfill, we take immense pride in cultivating a diverse range of vegetables, each one chosen for its nutritional value and adaptability to our Cape Town climate.
ZeroToLandfill’s Urban Farming Initiative
Urban farming, an innovative approach to agriculture, optimizes space within city confines for crop cultivation. At ZeroToLandfill, we’ve embarked on an initiative to turn vacant city spaces into thriving farms. Our research and development farm is based at St George’s Grammar School in Mowbray. Other CORC farming hubs are based in Philippi and Stellenbosch. Using sustainable farming techniques, combined with the nutrient-rich compost from our composting program, we ensure the growth of fresh, organic, and local produce.
By reconnecting the community with the source of their food, we hope to inspire a new generation of city farmers and environmentally-conscious consumers.
Growing vegetables sustainably
Our dedication doesn’t end in the garden. We sell through local venues and markets and deliver to your door, ensuring our produce is delivered fresh, and accessible to everyone.
Additionally, local restaurants source our fresh ingredients, adding a touch of urban-grown flavour to their dishes. Supporting our urban farming initiative not only brings you closer to your food’s source but also bolsters Cape Town’s local economy.
Farming with Purpose
Beyond fresh produce, our urban farming initiative plays a pivotal role in job creation. Making compost, tending to crops, harvesting and delivering produce requires a dedicated team.
As our farms expand, so does our workforce, opening up opportunities for those who are unemployed. By choosing our produce, you’re not only consuming healthier food options but also uplifting the community by providing jobs and supporting skills development.
